WHAT IS A PDO THREAD LIFT?
A PDO thread lift is a minimally invasive treatment alternative to traditional surgical facelift procedures. PDO thread lift therapies use a thread composed of a substance known as PDO. These threads are dissolvable and biocompatible, meaning they are not a threat to living tissues. During a PDO thread lift procedure, the dissolvable threads are gently injected into the subdermal layer of the skin. The threads have tiny structures that “grab” onto and pull up the underside of the skin, helping to lift, tighten, and contour loose or sagging skin. Along with providing immediate lift and support to the skin, PDO thread lifting induces the body’s natural healing process, which stimulates collagen production. Treatment areas of PDO lifting may include areas around the eyes, cheeks, nose, mouth, neck, jaw, and more.
WHY IS PDO THREAD LIFTING USED?
PDO thread lifting is used to lift areas of skin where there is sagging. PDO thread lifting may be used as an alternative to under the knife facelift procedures, which requires surgical removal of excess skin. PDO thread lifting may be used for adding lift to a variety of facial areas, including the:

TYPES OF PDO THREAD LIFTING?
The threads are mainly used on the face and the neck but can also be used to lift skin on the body. In 2015, Gwyneth Paltrow, actress turned wellness expert, made headlines for covering the older thread lifting procedure on Goop. She called it an “under the radar approach” to anti-aging. In a thread lift, threads are inserted underneath the skin to lift sagging skin instantly and effectively. PLA threads take about 12 months to be absorbed and PCA takes about 12 to 15 months. PDO threads last longer in your body and tend to stimulate more collagen production.
Two main types of absorbable threads are used in the United States today. These are the PDO (Polydioxanone) and PLGA/PLLA (poly lactic-co-glycolic acid) threads. Both PDO and PLGA have been used safely for many decades in different surgical specialties. The MINT PDO threads are FDA approved and are one of the preferred PDO threads, as it is a stronger thread.
